Handmade rugs are a great investment. They age very well, especially if carefully maintained, and will then last a great many years. Although they age beautifully, not all parts of the aging process are beautiful. Your carpet will likely get stained and dirty over the years. This is where Maison Caplot comes in.

Wool and silk rugs are durable and the natural oils in their fibers keep them from looking dull. However, it is also very easy to damage these fibers using improper cleaning methods. This is why we wash the carpets that are entrusted to us only with natural and organic cleaners, which we apply according to the traditional method of hand washing. These cleaners also neutralize other, possibly harsher, cleaners that may have been present before we received your carpet. Synthetic cleaners can cause your carpet to fade and age prematurely.

We understand that your rug is important to you and we are committed to treating it like the priceless work of art that it is.

For silk, tapestries, antique rugs or other fine textile artwork, special cleaning and catering services are available. With its many years of experience, Maison Caplot knows how to handle even the most delicate parts. Call or visit us to find out more.

Mites

Dust mites and your Persian carpet

Moths love many Persian and Oriental rugs. This is because these rugs are often made from wool and vegetable dye. All materials are natural. Plus, they like dark, warm areas, an environment provided by the underside of these rugs. Their larvae also love to eat wool.

Prevent infestation by moths

LThe way to keep moths away is simple: keep your carpet clean. The best way to do this is to vacuum the carpet often, at least every two to three weeks, without extending the beater brush.

And you should get it professionally cleaned at least once every two to three years. Pay special attention to parts of the mat that are in darker areas where, as mentioned, moths prefer to nest and breed.

It's also worth noting that mothballs really don't do much to deter moths from attacking your carpet. The allure of wool and dye is just too strong..

The two types of moths that are drawn to a Persian / Oriental rug are the moth and the moth. As for the moths, they are not big and they have wings. When they find a Persian or Oriental rug that they like, they will begin to build a nest on it.

Traduire avec la voix 408 / 5000 Résultats de traduction Since they like dark areas, you're more likely to find them in sections of the carpet where the light is blocked, such as behind furniture. You'll likely find them in an area under the sofa that is rarely vacuumed, for example. They are also fond of certain types of dyes, so you may find them concentrated on a certain color area of the carpet.

After making a nest, butterflies lay their eggs. You probably won't see them because the eggs mimic the color of the carpet. The eggs then hatch into larvae, which are about half an inch long, and the larvae begin to eat the fibers.
